Up for auction is a characterful and authentic oriental rug of nomadic origin: An antique Baluch rug, knotted around 1900. These rugs, crafted by the nomadic Baluchi tribes, are world-renowned for their primal aesthetic and lustrous wool. This present piece captivates with a highly elegant, all-over patterned inner field: A geometric diamond lattice (diagonal composition) encloses stylized floral and tree motifs. The color palette is typical for this provenance, featuring deep, earthy tones such as rich dark brown, warm madder red, and shimmering indigo blue. Due to the natural light changes of the lustrous wool pile (changement), the colors unfold a nearly mystical depth. The dense pattern is framed by a multi-band border displaying the classic zigzag and running dog (wave) motifs of tribal art. The rug is in good condition with a beautiful, authentic patina of age, a firm weave, and well-preserved ends. A wonderful exhibit for lovers of authentic nomadic art and an extremely cozy, color-rich accent for sophisticated living spaces. • Condition: Good condition (well-maintained, authentic collector's condition with an even pile). • Dimensions (Metric): 175 x 107 cm
