Lot 242 AL-BASMALAH IN NASTALIQ SCRIPT, INDIA SIGED ABD AL-HUSAYN AND DATED 1318AH/1900-01AD

A finely executed Persian calligraphic composition featuring the Basmala (Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim) rendered in elegant Nastaʿliq script in deep blue pigment with intricate gold foliate decoration. The monumental calligraphy is set against a burnished ochre-gold ground and enclosed within finely ruled borders in blue and gold, with elaborately ornamented cornerpieces. The composition is further enhanced by a rectangular cartouche containing additional calligraphic ornament, while delicate floral and scrolling motifs enrich the principal letterforms. The work is Commissioned by the distinguished Muhammad Akram Khan and written by Mirza ʿAbd al-Husayn and dated 1318 AH (1900–01 AD). 14 by 30 cm
