Watercolour heightened with gold on paper, depicting the holy sanctuaries of Mecca and Medina in a unified, stylised composition. The Kaaba, rendered in black with gilded architectural details, appears alongside the arcades and minarets of the Masjid al-Haram, while the Green Dome of the Prophet’s Mosque dominates the foreground at Medina. The architectural elements are set against a softly coloured sky and verdant landscape, enclosed within an exceptionally decorative deep-blue border richly illuminated with scrolling gilt arabesques and stylised red and green floral motifs. 30.5 by 45 cm
