Lot 213 A PURPLE GLASS SPRINKLER FLASK, PERSIA OR SYRIA, 9TH–11TH CENTURY

A finely blown purple glass sprinkler flask of graceful proportions, characterized by a compressed globular body supported on a neatly folded circular foot and surmounted by a long, slender cylindrical neck terminating in a plain fire-rounded rim. The body is subtly articulated by a series of evenly spaced, rounded applied bosses projecting from the shoulder, creating a rhythmic decorative band that accentuates the vessel's harmonious silhouette. The neck rises elegantly from the gently domed shoulder, its attenuated profile lending the flask a refined sense of verticality and balance.
The vessel is fashioned from translucent manganese-purple glass, displaying a rich plum hue enlivened by soft iridescence and mineral accretions.
