Lot 279 A KASHAN POTTERY ALBARELLO, PERSIA 13TH CENTURY

Of cylindrical form with a gently waisted body, short neck, and flared rim, the vessel is covered in a creamy white glaze painted in cobalt blue with vertical bands and a band at the shoulder. The freely applied pigment has softened and run in the firing, creating characteristic blurred edges. Traces of additional decoration are faintly visible beneath surface wear. The fritware body and underglaze cobalt decoration typify early Kashan production. The surface bears extensive age-related abrasion and encrustation, contributing to its archaeological character.
