A painting on silk paper showcasing commander Minamoto no Yoshitsune 源義経 (1159–1189) and warrior monk Benkei 弁慶.
Yoshitsune is seated on a camp stool underneath the blossoms of the cherry trees 桜 (sakura). Clad in full vibrant armour, a katana 刀 with a tiger-skin scabbard at his side and a folding fan 扇子 (sensu) in his hand, he gazes peacefully towards the beautiful blossoms.
Benkei is seated in front of him, dressed in black armour 鎧 (yoroi) with bear-skin trims. Focused on writing on a wooden plaque, he remains indifferent to the beauty surrounding him.
