A striking Edo period Momonari kabuto (peach-shaped helmet) featuring an impressive shi-shi (mythical lion) maedate front crest with large golden horns. Complete with a fierce menpo (face and chin guard) and well-preserved multi-plate neck protection with original blue silk lacing. Some signs of old restoration, but overall a powerful and rare example of authentic samurai armor craftsmanship.
Helmet: height 25 cm.
Width 28 cm.
