Inlaid with Mother-of-Pearl and Brass Decorations
Refined pipe case from the Netherlands dates to the 18th or 19th century and is crafted from wood, richly inlaid with mother-of-pearl, brass strips, and fine engravings. The case served as a protective holder for valuable clay pipes and reflects the craftsmanship and luxurious smoking culture of the time.
The hinged lid opens to reveal a hollow interior where the pipe could be safely stored. The stem is beautifully decorated with repetitive brass rings, while the sides are adorned with floral motifs in mother-of-pearl.
