An intaglio of sardonyx showing a bust of Jupiter flanked by a star and the crescent moon above an eagle facing with its wings spread. Here we have a type which combines all the symbols of Romanitas, Jupiter and the eagle, both equating to the power of Rome. One imagines this being mounted in a ring which belonged to a soldier given the significance of the types, as a final touch the star and moon signify the cosmos over which Jupiter rules.
