A CARNELIAN INTAGLIO WITH A STANDING MARS, 2ND CENTURY AD

Reference: ART600311

A carnelian intaglio with Mars standing to the left in full armour holding his spear and shield by side. At his feet to the left, lies a stand with a cornucopia. This is a somewhat unusual attribute for Mars but could suggest a connection with Fortuna.
Slightly oxidised carnelian with a small chip near the base.
13 by 10 mm.
