Lot 296 A RARE ANTIQUE CHINESE SILK CLOTH (EMBROIDERY PANEL) WITH DRAGON DESIGN, QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)

Up for auction is an exquisite document of imperial Chinese textile art: An antique Chinese silk cloth (embroidery panel) from the historic Qing Dynasty (1644–1912), created in the 19th century. This fine textile work of art is executed on a light blue silk ground and is richly brocaded and embroidered. The central motif features a powerful dragon masterfully rendered in relief-like gold and silver thread embroidery, reaching for the flaming pearl. The mythical creature is surrounded by polychrome cloud bands and stylized good fortune symbols. On the right edge, the panel concludes with the classic, ritual Lishui pattern – a magnificent depiction of standing cosmic water waves and rising rock formations in finely graded silk threads. The textile fragment is mounted on a protective gray underfabric. It is in a generally good and structurally stable condition. On the left side of the silk panel, there is a small hole in the weave (see detailed photos), which emphasizes the historical character of this authentic collector's item.
