Up for auction is a monumental and color-rich rarity of nomadic weaving art: An antique Qashqai Jajim from Southwest Persia, masterfully hand-woven around 1900. This Jajim captivates with its exceptionally sophisticated manufacturing technique. The textile was crafted by the women of the Qashqai tribe in several narrow panels on horizontal ground looms using an extremely dense warp-faced rib weave technique, and subsequently joined together with precision to achieve this monumental overall size. The timeless design fascinates with a rhythmic, polychrome striped pattern. The longitudinal bands alternate between powerful madder red, indigo blue, emerald green, white, and warm earth tones, finely interwoven with small, precisely placed geometric floats and pattern elements. Due to its fine, firm, and blanket-like structure, this type of weave was used very versatility by the nomads and was rarely preserved in such remarkable, nearly square dimensions. The piece is in a remarkably good state of preservation with full color vibrancy and a stable structure. A highly decorative collector's item that, thanks to its modern, graphic impact, is ideally suited as a room-filling floor covering or a stately wall hanging. • Condition: Good condition (excellently preserved, authentic collector's and interior condition). • Dimensions (Metric): 260 by 225 cm.
