Lot 298 AN ANTIQUE OTTOMAN MONEY BAG (KESE) WITH GOLD AND SILVER EMBROIDERY

Reference: ART5001609

An antique Ottoman money bag (Kese), artfully brocaded and embroidered with gold and silver threads. These noble pouches traditionally served the Ottoman court and high society for the prestigious storage and presentation of gold coins. The face panel displays a delicate floral frame with leafy vines enclosing a monumental central motif: A serrated, sun-like medallion centered with a stylized Tughra (the official signature/seal of the Ottoman Sultan), flanked by calligraphic elements and an elegant crescent moon. The upper section of the bag features an intricate lattice pattern and still retains its original drawstring cord. A delicate, crocheted lace border frames the entire object.
In good condition.
