A finely executed miniature painting illustrating the story of Gajendra Moksha from the Bhagavata Purana. The scene portrays the elephant king Gajendra seized by a crocodile, calling upon Lord Vishnu for divine rescue. Vishnu appears with his sacred attributes, accompanied by Garuda, and ultimately grants liberation (moksha) to both beings. 24 by 19 cm.
