Lot 444 AN OTTOMAN ILLUMINATED QURAN, TURKEY 18TH-19TH CENTURY

An Arabic manuscript on paper, comprising 303 folios, with each page containing 15 lines of black naskh script within gilt and black borders. This manuscript is a complete Quran, with surah headings framed by gilt panels. The opening bifolia feature intricate gilt and polychrome decoration, surrounding seven lines in clouds set against a gilt background. Gold roundels mark the verses, and occasional gilt marginal markers indicate the "Juz" divisions. Dimensions: 11 by 17 cm Condition: Very good, though the first page shows a tear.
