A nice ikebana flower basket 花籠 (hanakago), crafted from brown susutake 煤竹 (‘smoked bamboo’).
The basket features an ovoid body, constructed from thin strings of bamboo plaited in a criss-cross fashion adorned with raised vertical lines. It is equipped with loop handle made of bent strings of bamboo bound together. The basket stands on four low feet.
Period: Japan – Taishô period (1912-1926).

Height 50 cm, Width 21 cm, Depth 19 cm.
