This exquisite Japanese Natsume (tea caddy) from the late 20th century is a stunning example of traditional lacquerware artistry. Designed for use in the Japanese tea ceremony, it showcases:
A brilliant gold lacquered surface with an elegant red camellia flower motif.Intricate maki-e decoration, where fine gold and colored powders are applied to lacquer for a rich, textured effect.The flower design extends seamlessly across the lid and body, creating a unified and flowing botanical theme.
The interior is finished in deep black lacquer, and includes a beautifully minimalist bud design on the inner lid.
The base bears the artisan’s signature.
