of rounded, globular form rising from a short spreading foot, with a broad domed shoulder and gently waisted neck. The body is richly painted in underglaze cobalt blue with flowering sprays, scrolling foliage and diaper-patterned panels, arranged within cartouches and framed by scrolling borders. The ewer is fitted with an imposing arched overhead handle, similarly decorated in blue and white, and a curved spout terminating in an elaborate engraved silver mount. The domed porcelain cover is surmounted by a distinctive silver finial and enclosed within a finely worked silver rim, with the cover secured to the handle by a delicate silver chain. Height: 20 cm.
