Lot 304 A CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE VASE, REPUBLIC PERIOD, EARLY 20TH CENTURY

A Chinese porcelain, of baluster form with a waisted neck and flared rim, finely decorated in famille rose enamels. The rounded body is painted with exuberant flowering peonies and other blossoms amid scrolling foliage, beneath elaborate bands of lotus scrolls, archaistic motifs and geometric borders. The tall neck is richly decorated on a yellow ground with stylised floral scrolls and Buddhist-inspired motifs. One side of the body bears a poetic inscription in black script, accompanied by iron-red seals.
