A monumental calcified light green jade pendant of “toothed” form from the Hongshan culture. Expertly carved with sweeping curves and archaic motifs, this impressive ceremonial object exemplifies the distinctive artistic language of one of China’s earliest jade-working traditions. The richly calcified surface and ancient patina attest to its great age and archaeological significance.

Mr. Huang acquired the jade pieces in Hong Kong. Some from Mr. Lai Loy (1926 - 2012), a jade dealer on Hollywood Road well known for handling and supplying archaic jade pieces to collectors, museums and other dealers and some some from private collectors in Hong Kong.
