Lot 332 A BLUE GLASS BOHEMIAN CARAFE, MADE FOR THE OTTOMAN MARKET, LATE 18TH-EARLY 19TH CENTURY

Reference: ART3008437

Of opaque turquoise-blue glass, the vessel has a faceted, polygonal body rising from a broad scalloped foot and tapering to a tall, faceted neck articulated by moulded collars. It is fitted with a matching stopper with a domed, petal-cut knop.

The body is decorated in gilding with arched panels, scrolling foliate motifs, and six-pointed star devices, while a band of vertical stylized elements and vine scrolls encircles the lower section. Smaller gilt arabesques ornament the neck, creating a richly decorative surface characteristic of Bohemian glass produced for the Ottoman market. Height: 27 cm.
