A MONGOLIAN CLAY TABLET, TSA-TSA, IN A WOODEN ALTAR BOX, 19TH-20TH CENTURY

The clay tablet is decorated in polychrome and moulded to depict one of the five Dhyani Buddhas, Ashkobya, seated on a lotus throne with one hand holding an alms bowl and the other in the earth-touching mudra, and various further figures in the background. The figure is accompanied with a silk cushion, and enshrined in a glass-paned wooden altar box with decorated with gilt. 13.2 by 9.2 by 5.2 cm.
