A Mongolian thangka depicting Vaisravana

The thangka depicts Vaisravana, a manifestation of Jambhala, the god of riches. He is depicted seated on a Buddhist lion and holds a parasol in one hand and the mongoose in the other. The central figure is accompanied with a Mahakala in the upper register, all before a mountainous cloud-filled landscape. The painting is mounted in a brocade border.
