Finely carved in the shape of an elderly woman carrying a small woven basket in her hand and wearing long flowing pants, the upper body is naked, revealing and emaciated body. Yamauba or mountain ogress, are generally considered to be old women who were marginalized by society and forced to live in the mountains—who also have a penchant for eating human flesh.

Condition: loss of red lacquer to the pants due to age. + Restoration to the foot and light wear to the tip of the nose.
