Large round three piece Chinese style bronze incense burner (koro) consisting of a round base that supports a round vessel for the incense with two large openwork handles covered with a lid crowned by an auspicious mythological kirin-figure (Chinese: qilin). The incense burner is all over decorated with kuei-dragons and taotie-masks in low relief. The round vessel has a bottom mark: Dainippon Kyoto No-zō, the mark of the Nomura workshop in Kyoto.
