An O-tanto in unique shibuichi kanagu Koshirae, A short wakizashi with old blade and small knife (Kozuka/kogatana) in mount.
Blade: Shape (Tsukurikomi): Shobu-zukuri. Carving (Horimono): Ken (sword) curving on Ura side. Tang (Nakago): Ubu (original tang), Mumei (un-signed), 2 holes. Length (Nagasa): 36.2 cm, Sori (curve) : 0.7 cm. Width at bottom (Moto-haba): 3.0 cm. Thickness at bottom (Moto-kasane) : 0.65 cm.
Texture of steel (Jitetsu): Itame-hada. Temper pattern/line (Hamon): Gunome-midare with togari-ba (irregular round head hamon with pointed hamon). Temper pattern at tip (Boshi): Midare-komi, (Irregularly short turn back). Muromachi period, late 16th Century.
Habaki (metal collar encircling the base of the blade): Double shaudo and gold Habaki.
Mounting (Koshirae): Custom unique mounting. Fittings on handle (Fuchigashira): made from Shibuichi (copper and silver alloy) Jurojin (one of 7 lucky gods) design. Handle fitting (Tsuka-kanagu, mekugi): Gold inlay on Shibuichi. Menuki combined with Mukugi: made from Shakudo, Dragon ball design, it is left handed screw that is original Japanese style before 19th century. Tsuba : made from Shibuichi, Hote-son (one of 7 lucky gods/Shichifukujin) design. Kurigata: made from Copper (Suaka), Mouse with rice bag (Komedawara). Ornament on Saya (Sya-kanagu): made from Shakudo (copper and gold alloy) Centipede design. Fitting on the bottom of Saya (Kojiri): made from silver, paulownia leaf design. Kozuka (handle of small knife): made from copper, centipede design. Kogatana (small knife): signed Taira Nobuhide (....-....). Unique original mounting in good condition, late Edo period, 19th Century with Muromachi period blade (late 16th Century).
