Reference: ART200685

A Kyoyaki-ware sencha tea-set consisting of five small tea-bowls (chawan), a tea-pot (kyusu) and a water-cooler (yuzamashi) by Otagaki Rengetsu (1791 – 1875). The tea-set looks as if made from lotus leaves and is inscribed with waka-poems signed: Rengetsu. The poems are taken from the only in her lifetime published work Ama no karumo (1875): poem no. 35, 87, 176 (chawan); 266 (tea-pot) and 139 (water-cooler and a chawan). One poem (on a tea-bowl) is recorded in her Complete Works (Zoho Rengetsu-ni zenshu. 2006, shui p. 89).
