An Ottoman Curtain for Door of Repentance of Al Kabaa

A special textile was made for the internal door of the Kaaba beginning in the 18th century. It is made of black silk with red green silk appliqués, embroidered in silver and silver gilt wires over cotton and sild thread padding. Embroiderd with gilt and silver inlaid wires to the centre with Ayat Al-Kursi (Arabic: آية الكرسي 'āyat ul-kursi) known as The Throne Verse is the 255th verse of the 2nd surah of the Quran, Al-Baqarah. Further decorated with quotations of Quran, names of characters in the islamic history and Arabesques amongst foliage. With the Ottoman Tughra of Abdulaziz (1830-1876)
