A famille rose 'cockerels' snuff bottle

The cyclindrical bottle is decorated with five cockerels in various poses, enamelled in various colours such as iron-red, puce, white, and black. With a stopper.

Catalogue note: This design can be seen in Daoguang and Guangxu periods, it appears to have been popular during the late nineteenth century. Some pieces like the current lot are marked Guangxu, while others are inscribed with other marks. A similar example from the Mary and George Bloch Colleciton was sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong, 24 November 2014, lot 173.
