The bulbous body is decorated in gilt with shaped panels enclosing chrysanthemum and roses amongst rocks in a fenced garden, all interspersed with scrolling lotus. The neck is decorated with a stiff leaf band. The rim, neck and spout are fitted with later repoussé gilt metal mounts.
Catalogue note: a very similar metal-mounted blue-ground gilt-decorated kendi was sold from the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art through Christie's Online Only, 21-22 September 2017, lot 1870.
