A Chinese Hongwu-style underglaze copper red 'peony' yuhuchunping

The pear-shaped body is decorated with copper tones which have fired greyish-red, depicting an undulating peony meander bearing four full-faced and in profile blooms. The flowers grow from scrolling stems bearing pointed foliage and further smaller blossoms, all above a border of lotus petal lappets containing ruyi-head pendants, and a keyfret band at the foot. The waisted neck is decorated with a border of trefoils beneath a classic scroll and key fret bands, all below overlapping plantain leaves at the neck, and a further scroll atop the rim.
