A large Chinese iron-red-decorated blue and white 'dragon and phoenix' rouleau vase

The body is boldly decorated in iron-red with a striding dragon and a phoenix in flight amongst iron-red blossoms on densely scrolling underglaze blue leafy vines, all above foaming waves to the foot. The shoulder is decorated with a dragon cartouche on a diaper band, and the neck is decorated with further scrolling flowers.
