A CHINESE CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL BIRD CAGE, QING DYNASTY ( 1644-1911)

Rare bird cage in gold bronze and partitioned enamels. The dome-shaped cage, resting on four ruyi-shaped feet decorated with lotus, the underside decorated with a flower in the center, surrounded by fine foliage and lotus scrolls, the lower periphery of the cage with openwork decoration of scrolls and lotus of various sizes, the bars in gilded bronze, the oval door with openwork decoration of parakeets linked by a ribbon, the inside of the cage also decorated with lotus and supporting a perch on which is placed a lovely parakeet with finely enameled plumage, its red belly contrasting with the varied colors of its wings, a drinker and a feeder of different shapes hung on the bars. 36 cm.
