A CHINESE CINNABAR LACQUER BOX

The upper surface of the box is decorated with a scene of a scholar and attendant and a further scholar amongst pavilions, pine, and rocks in a mountainous landscape. The sides of the cover and the base are decorated with large leafy peony sprays. The interior and base is lacquered black, with an apocryphal Qianlong mark.
