A CHINESE CARVED TIXI LACQUER BOX

The rectangular box is carved to the cover and sides of the box through the layers of the red and black lacquer with stylised guri (sword pommel) designs. The box is raised on low feet with curved aprons. The interior is lacquered yellow. The reverse of the box is marked with an apocryphal Jiajing mark and date. The box is fixed with handles and hinges.
