The bowl is decorated to the exterior in relief with peonies growing from pierced rocks amongst bamboo, and a further peony spray to the reverse, the details are outlined in iron-red and painted with gilt. The interior is decorated with a peony spray in underglaze blue, and the rim with a band of linked acanthus leaves in iron-red and gilt.
