A celadon jade twin-handled cup

Reference: ART100578

The cup is carved standing on a raised foot with two chilong-head handles to the shoulders. The body is decorated in low relief with dense rows of bosses. The stone is of a celadon tone with fine inclusions.

Catalogue notes: a similar twin-handled cup was in the collection of HRH The Princess Mary, Princess Royal, Countess of Harewood (1897-1965) sold at Christie's London, 9 December 2012, 'Harewood: Collecting in the Royal Tradition', lot 1073.

Condition: The horn of one chilong is slightly polished, a chip to the rim with a fine associated y-shaped crack (possibly associated with a natural fissure).
