A Chinese Cantonese silk and paper fan with black lacquer guardsticks

The fan is decorated in two registers of silk on paper leaf, to the top register with cartouche enclosing figures in a terrace with ivory faces and textile appliques, surrounded by two pheasant and flower cartouches interspersed with fish and auspicious symbols. The lower layer is decorated with further figures. The lacquer sticks are decorated with various gilt figures. The fan is in a glass case.
