Pounce pots, sometimes known as sanders. They were used to shake sand over finished writing in Europe, hence the name sanders. The pair are painted around the sides with emblems of the scholar and around the underside of the rim with flower heads and scrolling flowers around the base, the top is pierced with holes were the sand was put in and also shaken out. Pounces were made in pairs but often one has been lost or broken.

Condition: one with very minor restoration to the rim.
