A Chinese yixing Mansheng-style teapot and cover

Reference: ART1001926

The slightly tapered teapot is decorated to one side with a poetic inscription entitled 'Jian ying' signed by 'Man sheng'. The base is impressed with a seal mark reading 'a man tuo shi', and the handle is marked 'Pengnian'

Catalogue notes: 'A man tuo shi' was the studio name of Chen Mansheng, a magistrate who collaborated with the infamous yixing potter Yang Pengnian to create a group of teapots that are now known as 'Mansheng pots'.
