A pair of cinnabar circular lacquer boxes

The two boxes are finely carved in varying layers of relief with a double circle enclosing a scene of a dignitary, welcomed by attendant and his servants ,and a lady seated with her servants holding a fan. The sides of the box are carved with geometric patterns. The interior and base are covered in black lacquer.
