A large Chinese ivory carving of a fisherwoman and a Shoulao

The figure is carved as an old woman wearing long robes and a head covering, she holds a gnarled openwork cane in her hand off of which hangs a freshly caught fish, and a basket in the crook of her left arm. The base is carved with an apocryphal Qianlong seal mark. The smiling bearded figure is carved wearing long robes decorated with incised shou-character roundels and flowerheads at the hem. He holds a gnarled staff in his left hand and a scroll reading 'Fulushou' in both hands in front of him. The base is incised with two characters reading 'Da Ming'.

The fisherwoman: 31 cm. high The Shoulao: 36.5 cm. high
