A Chinese brass 'narrative' hand warmer

The handwarmer is decorated to the long sides with a narrative scene with a scholar, attendants, and a lady holding a baby with her attendant. The narrow sides are each decorated with two Buddhist lions above scattered precious objects. The swing handles is decorated with a further precious symbol. The warmer is fitted with a openwork cover.
