The squat teapot is modelled with a downward curing spout and a c-shaped handle. The body is decorated with a single horizontal raised band. The cover is surmounted by a thick loop handle. The seal to the base reads 'Manxi taoyi' and the seal to the underside of the cover reads 'Gu Jingzhou'.

Catalogue note: Gu Jingzhou (1915-1996) was a renowned crafter of Yixing teapots, he began the art when he was 18 years old and later went on to become the founder and Deputy Director of Research and Technology at China's oldest Yixing teapot manufacturer, the Number One Yixing Factory.
