Condition: The canvas has been relined and set onto a new stretcher of which the canvas is now coming loose. Some minor scratches to the surface visible. Very fine craquelure visible to the white pigments. This work would benefit from cleaning. UV inspection: several thick and uneven varnish layers are visible. The letters on the books right of the head of the sitter have been strengthened. Some minor retouched specks in the lower part of painting.
