Lot 18 A ROCK CRYSTAL RING, 10TH-12TH CENTURY

Reference: ART600962

An Islamic rock crystal ring with an inscribed bezel. The ring consists of a single piece of flawless rock crystal which consists of a masterfully carved shank and a rectangular bezel upon which a Kufic inscription is engraved. The shank is made with an elegant sweep which descends to a point at the base, meanwhile a flat facet is made on both sides while the outside is fashioned in a ridge. This allows the rings to reflect the facets and give the piece volume and grace.
