A very fine topaz intaglio showing the lamb of God with a cross standard to the right. A type already known in the 4th.c.A.D. this representation on ovoid cabochon topaz shows it to have been the possession of a very wealthy individual. Above there is a suspension loop for attachment to a chain while below three small spiral twisted wire pendants hang, two with small emeralds and one with a river pearl.
