A red jasper square intaglio showing a Greek or Trojan warrior kneeling in a position of defence. The subject might come out of the Trojan War as the Romans did identify themselves with the Trojans against the Greeks. The square shape of the intaglio is unusual but known. The modern pendant mount has small diamonds on the lateral bosses on the mount while on the back a cast of the intaglio has be inserted into a frame. No hallmarks.
