A CARNELIAN HEBREW SEAL, 16TH-17TH CENTURY AD

An octagonal carnelian seal with a Hebrew inscription around a central square panel which has two letters. This would have been a personal seal probably from early Ottoman times. It reads the proclamation 'Shalom Young Israel!', these seals were no doubt engraved to the requirement of the wearer.
