Reference: ART600742

An intaglio in hessonite(?) or brown carnelian, showing the portrait of a man three quarters facing with drapery over his right shoulder and a caduceus behind his left. The subject probably is an adherent of a cult of Mercury and the prominence of the symbol exemplifies this. 20 by 15 mm. Provenance: acquired in London antique hypermarket before 2000s
